Paying for care

Five ways care gets paid for. Here is what each one actually means.

Most agency websites hide this page. We put it near the front, because the payer question decides how fast care can start.

Private pay

Who it fits: Families who want care to start now, or whose needs fall outside a Medicaid authorization.

How it works

Hourly, billed weekly or monthly. A written rate at the assessment, never a phone estimate. Two-caregiver transfer windows are priced as such.

Straight talk

Denver-metro non-medical home care generally runs in the mid-thirties to mid-forties per hour. We tell you where your plan lands before care starts.

Health First Colorado: CFC personal care

Who it fits: Members of Colorado Medicaid who qualify for Community First Choice personal care.

How it works

A case management agency in your county assesses needs and authorizes hours. You choose the provider. A Daughter's Love is an approved CFC personal care provider.

Straight talk

We cannot determine eligibility, but we can tell you which agency to call and what to expect.

CIH and BI waiver pathways

Who it fits: Adults with a brain injury (BI waiver) or complex needs (CIH) who qualify for Home and Community-Based Services.

How it works

Authorized through the waiver's case manager. ADL supports the personal care and attendant portions within our Class B scope.

Straight talk

Waiver services are broader than what we provide. We coordinate, we do not replace, the rest of the plan.

DD and SLS waivers (respite)

Who it fits: Families supporting an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability through a Community Centered Board.

How it works

Respite hours are authorized in the person's service plan. ADL delivers planned respite with matched caregivers.

Straight talk

Your CCB case manager confirms whether respite is in the plan and how many hours.

Long-term care insurance

Who it fits: Anyone with an LTC policy that reimburses home care.

How it works

Most policies reimburse the family after an elimination period. We provide the invoices, care notes, and caregiver credentials the carrier asks for, monthly.

Straight talk

Bring the policy summary to the assessment. We will tell you what the carrier will want.

Program names and rules change. This page is a plain-language guide, not a determination of eligibility. Your case management agency or CCB makes that call.

Money questions, answered plainly

What does private pay cost?+

Rates depend on the level of care, hours per week, and whether two caregivers are needed for transfers. We give a written rate at the assessment, not a phone estimate. Denver-metro non-medical care generally runs in the mid-thirties to mid-forties per hour, and we are transparent about where a plan lands.

What is CFC?+

Community First Choice is a Health First Colorado benefit that covers personal care at home for eligible members. A case management agency authorizes hours. ADL is an approved CFC provider; we can point you to the right case management agency for your county.
